It is a mistake that we have not yet mastered the use of relative pronouns in English. It’s one of the sentence expressions that really work for language learners. Not only knowing the theory of relative pronouns, Monkey also wants you to better understand them through the exercises of who, whom, which, that below. Practice now with Monkey and score how many % you complete correctly.

Knowledge of relative pronouns to remember

The relative pronouns in English are who, which, that, whose, whom… are words used to connect a relative clause with the main clause in a sentence. It can be said that relative pronouns are an indispensable part of relative clauses.

Ex: The girl who helped me yesterday is my friend. (The girl who helped me yesterday is my girlfriend.)

-> Who is a relative pronoun in the relative clause “who helped me yesterday”. The relative clause is intended to explain the noun in front of “the girl”.

Relative pronouns function as subject, object or possessive. How to use relative pronouns see here: How to use relative pronouns (from AZ) in English
